Here at Attuned Vitality, our Functional Neurologist offers many different treatment modalities. One such modality is the Vielight. The Vielight is a medical grade technological device that is scientifically proven to improve brain performance, cognition, memory, immunity, and cerebral blood flow. It is backed by research that spans over a decade and has thousands of published studies. As such, it is safe for all ages to use and does not hurt at all.
But how does the Vielight work?
The Vielight works by non-invasively stimulating your brain through a process called photobiomodulation (PBM). PBM involves emitting light energy within the red to near-infrared (NIR) wavelength range. Research has shown that this improve mitochondrial health. You can think of the mitochondria as the “batteries” for your cells, providing energy to carry out biochemical reactions and other cellular processes. PBM can also regenerate damaged brain cells as well as reduce inflammation and toxicity.
What happens in a typical therapeutic treatment?
If our Functional Neurologist determines your treatment should include the Vielight, there are a few things that you can expect to happen. Dr. Funk will first place the Vielight on your head with you in a seated position. It will remain on your head throughout the duration of the treatment. Additionally, he will ensure that it is on specific locations to target the injured parts of your brain. Next, he will start a timer to track how long the Vielight is emitting its light energy. Throughout the process, you will be sitting still until the treatment is complete. You may close your eyes if you choose to in the meantime.
While the Vielight is working, you may experience slight nausea or other discomfort. If this is the case, Dr. Funk will immediately adapt or stop the treatment as this is a sign that your brain has had enough treatment for that session. Majority of the time, patients report not feeling anything throughout the treatment. As the patient is able to handle more overtime, Dr. Funk will slowly increase the duration of each treatment.
