Class IV Laser Therapy

Class IV laser therapy promotes faster healing by increasing tissue regeneration, reducing inflammation, and decreasing pain. It also improves muscular performance when applied before exercise. The Class IV laser is the latest type of PBM laser and the one that we offer at Attuned Vitality.

Class IV Laser Therapy in Action:

Class IV laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that works by emitting photons at a red and near-infrared wavelength. Some photons deflect upon contact with your body (from your hair, skin, etc.). The mitochondria absorbs the remaining photons. This stimulates the production of ATP, effectively increasing the proliferation of more red blood cells to the effected area. More red blood cells increase blood flow, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the site of the injury. In areas of the body that are avascular or lack blood vessels (such as tendons), this can be particularly useful. Additionally, the heat that omits from the Class IV laser promotes further blood flow by opening up your blood vessels.

How Can Laser Therapy Help You?

At Attuned Vitality, many of our patients have noticed improvements following a session with our Class IV laser. These sessions vary in length depending on the site of injury. Sometimes, the improvements are immediate. Other times, it may take several sessions. Common conditions patients report noticing improvements with include:

  • Joint pain in the elbows, knees, hips, shoulders, and wrists.
  • Muscular pain in the neck, lower back, arms, and legs.
  • Plantar Fasciitis.
  • Inflammation.
  • Post-surgical care.
  • Headaches.

While the idea of laser therapy may sound scary to some, rest assure that it is often described by our patients to be one of the least painful modalities out there. Additionally, our Class IV laser can be used on people of all ages and skin tones. Generally, each session lasts around 5 to 10 minutes. During each session, the patient wears safety goggles and remains in a seated or laid down position. Meanwhile, the practitioner applies the laser over the site of injury.
